Citizen of the Year: The 2012 Sugar Maple Committee is taking nominations for the 2012 Sugar Maple Festival Citizen of the Year. Worthy individuals being nominated should a citizen of either Bellbrook or Sugarcreek Township, 18 years or older, have been active in making the community a better place to live or performed a service that is above the call of duty. Nominations should be sent to Joan Gallagher, 3340 Ferry Road, Bellbrook, Ohio 45305    and should include candidate’s name, address, telephone number, reason for nomination (100 words or less), nominating person/organization’s name and contact number.

34^th Sugar Maple Festival – Citizen of the Year

Since 1979, the Sugar Maple Festival has welcomed citizens of the Miami Valley area to enjoy the beauty and friendliness of the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Community.  Through good weather and bad, the festival has prevailed for 33 years attracting people to the community on an annual basis.

In 1986, the Sugar Maple Citizen of the Year recognition was initiated.  The recipients have been honored because they have been active in making the community a better place to live or have performed a service considered above and beyond the call of duty.  Twenty-five recipients have been honored including: John Dorn, Burma Fernandez, Doc Wright, Joan Lipot, Genevieve Berryhill, Bob Gooding, Bill Mercer, Sherry Stipp, Belynda Frienden, Richard and Iris Black, and Walt Worthington.

 Hard copies of the nomination form can also be obtained from the Bellbrook City Building, the Sugarcreek Township Facility, the Parks Community Center or Dots market after January 6, 2012.  Completed nomination forms can be mailed to the Sugar Maple committee before March 14, 2012.
